Join us on our global adventures
Rochester Hills to Port Huron( Great Lake to Great Lake)
We left Rochester Hills before the clouds thickened, racing northeast toward Port Huron with a hopeful eye on the weather radar, skipping lunch so we could stay ahead of the storm cells. We made it into Port Huron with a with rain gear on and getting wetter. Get your rain gear on and come with us.
Brighton to Rochester Hills( Great Lake to Great Lake)
Brighton to Rochester Hills — a quick 42-mile ride of great scenery, old neighborhoods and a great lunch in Karen’s (my wife) old neighborhood. Come with us and enjoy the scenery.
Jackson to Brighton( Great Lake to Great Lake)
Jackson to Brighton — a brisk 48-mile ride of good roads, great company, and a well-earned lunch. We pedal through rolling countryside and tidy towns, pause for a family visit midroute, stops for photos or snacks. Lunch at a cozy diner—hearty, local fare—refuels us, then we ride into Brighton.
Battle Creek to Jackson( Great Lake to Great Lake)
From Battle Creek, home of Kellogg’s, to Jackson, famous for its legendary penitentiaries, this road trip stitches together Americana, quirky art, and lakeside tranquility into one unforgettable adventure.
Come along while we do the peddling.
South Haven to Battle Creek( Great Lake to Great Lake)
The journey back to Port Huron begins with a familiar mix of excitement and the comfortable hum of routine. We met an old friend for lunch, detours around construction stretched our patience, and the constant chorus of jackhammers and cones turned smooth plans into improvised route.
We have our first and only crash. It was abrupt, harmless in the big picture but jolting in the moment: a slipped wheel, a scattering of gear, and a pulse of adrenaline. We checked for broken bones and bike damage, dusted off pride and knees, and laughed when we realized the worst casualty was a dented ego and a scuffed pannier.
Great Lake to Great Lake / South Haven to Port Huron (Ride Across Michigan)
Once again we’re pedaling across another state, this time Michigan—starting in Port Huron on the shores of Lake Huron, taking the train and a short ride to South Haven on Lake Michigan before looping back to Port Huron six days later. Expect blue-water vistas, lighthouse stops, hearty Midwestern hospitality, and a mix of peaceful bike paths and rolling country roads as we chart our route across the mitten. Pack a sense of wonder and leave the pedaling to us—come along and enjoy Michigan, one scenic mile at a time.
C&O Towpath
Last year, about this time, Fred and I set out to ride from Pittsburgh to DC, ready for the adventure ahead. Unfortunately, Fred ran into a mechanical issue that kept him from finishing the ride. I promised him I would fly back to DC and complete the journey with him. This completes that journey from Cumberland MD to Georgetown along the C&O Towpath. Come join us.

The next 3 days of the Katy trail. Ride along as we complete the ride across the Missouri ending in St. Louis. Come along and enjoy the scenery of our last 3 days of riding.

Then ride to the beginning of the Katy Trail on the second day and across Missouri to St. Louis following the Katy Trail. Come along and enjoy the scenery of our first 3 days of riding.

With the one of the best climbs (Cap Formentor) now under our belts, we felt the thrill of accomplishment coursing through us. But there was no time to rest on our laurels. In anticipation of tackling the infamous Sa Calobra, we started making plans.

Travel day: Cycling in Mallorca Spain
With the GAP/C&O towpath, Capital Trail, and the Ohio to Erie Trail all completed this year, my sights are now set on the famous climbs and quaint towns of Mallorca, Spain. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and charming, cobblestone streets, Mallorca offers a unique blend of cycling challenges and cultural experiences. As I navigate the winding roads and steep ascents, I'l also indulge in local cuisine, soak in the vibrant atmosphere of its markets, and enjoy the warm hospitality of its townsfolk. Mallorca promises to be an exhilarating chapter in my cycling journey, and I can’t wait to explore every twist and turn it has to offer.
